Chicago sneak peek

I’m sicker than a dog in bed today after bringing home some sort of fancy crud on the plane from Chicago. A friend said to me today “I hope it’s not the swine flu.” God, me too.

Two of my favorites from our Friday session with Oscar and his dad Brian. Best. Shoot. Ever. (and no, I’m not kidding). Wait till you guys see the rest of them.

2010 Workshops update

I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t post any more workshops updates to the blog. But this one is important.

I have been getting a lot of emails lately from people saying things like “I look forward to coming to one of your workshops in 2010 in NYC/Dallas/Miami/fill in the blank city.”

I have made the final decision: I will *not* be holding travel workshops after 2009.

So, the final travel workshops I will teach, and your last opportunity to go to one near your home (assuming you don’t live in Portland, OR), are: Boston and Chicago in August 2009, and Atlanta and Austin in October 2009. (see the dates here).

Beyond that, starting in 2010 all Cowbelly workshops will be held in the lovely city of Seattle.

Although this is bound to change, given that I am a changeable creature, I anticipate holding only 2 workshops per year, one in the spring and one in the fall, and having a 20 person maximum registration per workshop.

The Boston registration deadline is tomorrow, and I have only 2 spaces left for the 2-day (the 3-day is full), and the Chicago registration ends next Friday 7/14. I have a few spaces left for Chicago, but you Chicago people are last-minuters so those spaces are filling super fast as I am having a new person register every day.

There are still plenty of spaces left for Atlanta, and Austin is now filling up quickly.

If you are interested in any of those cities give us a shout. And also, this is important, if you are interested in attending a 2010 workshop in Seattle next year please please email us so we can get a list going. I had over 150 people interested in workshops this year and with only 40 spaces next year I may end up carrying a waiting list. I know that by then the economy will have improved and more people will be ready to hit it with their businesses, and I want to make sure I can serve those who are already planning ahead, so please email us to let us know.

Ok that’s it! Hope y’all are having a lovely week. Sunshine in Seattle, yay. :-)

One more important workshops note!

I just had a chat with Christina, and we realized that I haven’t been clear about something leading up to the Traveling Roadshow (Workshops).

If you are interested in attending a workshop in 2009, please EMAIL US with your first and last name and email address. Send your email to workshops@cowbelly.com. It would be nice if you could tell us a little bit about yourself, where you live, what your background is, what your experience with photography is and why you are interested in getting into pet photography. And be sure to tell us what your favorite food and drink are. For some reason this is important to us. :-)

In terms of people who have already emailed us: we have compiled a list of interested parties in an excel spreadsheet, with information on each person, including the city they live in, which workshop they are interested in, their website address (if applicable) and their email address. I am calling this the ‘Priority List’. Thank you to everyone who has contacted us thus far- you all seem AWESOME! I am so excited to meet everyone.

In fairness, I WILL be giving priority to the people who have contacted me over the past 8 months (whose names are on the Priority List), but WON’T hold spaces open for them past a ‘reasonable’ amount of time. ‘Reasonable’ amount of time will be left up to my discretion. It may be just a week so don’t delay.

I will be sending an email out to everyone on our excel list at the time I launch the new website, as well as putting a post here, and updating the workshops page of the blog and my facebook pages. I plan to do all of these things in tandem so everyone knows.

None of the workshops are full as of yet, as I expect there to be a natural attrition rate from people who have contacted us in the past. *However*, space is going to be tight in the LA/OC and Boston workshops, so if you are interested in one of those and HAVE NOT contacted us yet please send us an email asap so we can put you on the priority list.

Expect the new website to launch, and registration to open, on February 14th- Valentines Day!

Thank you!

2009 Workshops update

I just wanted to let all of my 2009 workshop attendees know that I haven’t forgotten about them! I am currently working with my team to finalize all of the important details for the Traveling Roadshow, and my hope, and plan is, to have everything ready to launch by the middle of this month, so- within the next 10 days. A Valentines gift perhaps?

I am working on a brand new website, which I am very excited about. We are having to change a couple of dates due to large conventions in the cities on the originally scheduled dates. I believe it’s LA that will be one weekend later, and the August workshops are being slightly shifted too. I will have firm dates on the new workshops site once launched. And yes, the pricing will be on the new site too!

Once the site is launched the workshops will be open for registration. The only workshops that are near-full at this point are LA and Boston, but I am not worried about getting everyone in that wants to attend.

I am also hoping to take 1-2 days per city to visit friends and (hopefully) go shoot with them! I know a bunch of you have asked me to come and see you and I am really hoping to make it happen! For sure I will be taking a few extra days in LA to soak up some sunshine and meet up with friends and just enjoy the beach.

Lastly, I will also be doing a select few private client shoots in a few areas where they have been requested. Sadly I won’t be able to visit every city folks have emailed me from wanting me to shoot their pets (I know Minneapolis is out, I am so sorry!), but I will do the best that I can. I will update the cities I am available to do shoots on this blog once I have a better idea of what my schedule is.

Thank you everyone for being so patient with me! :-)
