I’ve been tagged!

Last week I was tagged by the lovely Mia Clapton, uber-talented dog photographer and owner of San Diego-based Thousand Hound Photography

The rules of the game are as follows:

  1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
  2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others you like and tell why.
  3. Tag 5 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
  4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
This is a toughie for me because I don’t really feel embarrased about any of the music I listen to, regardless of how ridiculous, and I don’t really care all that much what other people think of me, so it’s hard to judge what other people might laugh at. Having said that, if I were sitting in my car at a red light with the windows rolled down next to a really cute guy in a convertible, the following are the songs I would probably hope were not blaring from my stereo at that moment.

1. Duran Duran ‘Rio’, from, well, a bunch of albums. I always have and still do love this song. In fact, I have the CD in my CD changer in my car right now. I had a HUGE crush on John Taylor when I was young, and was convinced we would get married someday. Probably on the sailboat in the video.

2. Madonna ‘Into the Groove’ from ‘You Can Dance’. My dad was impressed with me last night when we were talking about karaoke and I busted out with this song and remembered all of the words. A classic really. I still have the cassette tape (remember those?). You know what? If I were next to cute guy at a stoplight, I’d probably just turn up the song and belt it out with all my heart and then smile at him. Cause that’s just how I am. :-)

3. Howard Jones ‘Like to Get To Know You Well’ from ‘Dream Into Action’. (can you tell I am a product of the 80′s? my family had free MTV for a year when it first came out and I LOVED it. I swear that was the very best time in my life.). Actually, I love this whole album- every song. Still have the cassette tape for this too. Brings back sweet, sweet memories of a family road trip from Seattle to Southern Cal.

4. Oasis ‘Wonderwall’. Ok, I actually am a little embarrassed about this one. I have a feeling most people are so sick of this song after hearing it 5 billion times when it was popular that if they heard me play it they would probably grimace.

5. Sublime ’40 oz to Freedom’ from the album of the same name. This is so not a CD you would think a 36 year old woman would like, but Sublime is one of my favorite bands (damn that Bradley Nowell for going off and having a heroin overdose and dying before I got the chance to see them live; still pissed off about that), and this song is one of my favorites.

The folks I am tagging for the ‘embarrassing song confession’ are:

I look very forward to reading their answers! :-)

Oh, and, lots of fun stuff coming up this week, be sure to check in often!

Tagged- times 2!!

While I have been busy as a bee in my little Cowbelly workshop (my home office if you want to get technical), I have been tagged by my lovely web friends, not once but twice.

The first time by Melissa Langer, and the 2nd time by Kathy Weller.

Melissa tagged me to share 5 little-known things about myself, and Kathy tagged me to share my top 25 favorite movies.

Starting in order: here are 5 things about me that you may not know:

1. When I was 17 I flew alone to Ketchikan Alaska to work in a fishing cannery. Among the things that happened were:

  • I fell in love with a fisherman.
  • Took a hike up a shale mountain in a lightning storm. (Ok, it was right before the storm happened, then we got the hell out of there).
  • Slipped on an oily floor and hit my head on a steel door, resulting in a concussion.
  • Developed pnemonia 10 days later. It was one of the darkest times in my life and I still believe I saw some scary spirits lurking around. Either that or I had gone completely mad.
  • Still decided to stay for an extra month after everyone left, to help clean the cannery. In all my stay totaled 4 months.

2. I drive a green Subaru Outback that I bought on ebay.
3. I’m not a big fan of chocolate. Ok, I’ll eat it if you give it to me, otherwise I never buy it.
4. I have been cutting my own hair for over 5 years.
5. I can’t stand the smell of moth balls.

Now, the 25 movies. This is a toughie, but here goes. Probably in order of like, because my top favorites come to mind first.

  1. Trainspotting
  2. Sliding Doors
  3. Moulin Rouge
  4. The Professional
  5. Scent of a Woman
  6. Wizard of Oz
  7. The Usual Suspects
  8. Blood Diamond
  9. Night in the City
  10. The Butterfly Effect
  11. Austin Powers
  12. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp)
  13. The Ring
  14. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
  15. Oceans 11
  16. Memento
  17. Black Hawk Down
  18. Best in Show
  19. Walk the Line
  20. What’s Eating Gilberty Grape
  21. The Nightmare Before Christmas
  22. The Fifth Element
  23. Summer of Sam
  24. Bridget Jones Diary
  25. I’m Gonna Git You Sucka

I tend to like pretty intense movies, but I also greatly appreciate ridiculous humor a la Austin Powers or I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.

NOW, since this tag game is getting a little bit confusing about who tagged who and with what, I am going to change things up a little.

I will tag the appropriate number of people, but with my own NEW tag.

My NEW tag is:

“if you could spend 30 days in one location (and only one location) anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go and why?”

I think we’d all like to be someplace else at this time of the year and (hopefully) it’s a simple question for us busy folk to answer.

My answer? Fiji. On the beach. With froofie drink in hand. But I’d wait until the weather improves a little. According to weather underground it’s hot but cloudy there right now. Why would I got to Fiji? Need you ask? Ok, since you did: being an A-type personality, I very rarely give my body and soul the opportunity to truly relax, and after the madness of the holidays this is what I need the very most. I feel that laying on a beach, soaking in the sun, doing absolutely nothing for 30 days would fit this bill nicely.

Here are the people I am tagging:

Jeannie Thompson- Boston Terriers Rock
Jill Warner- our furry family
Ashley Brown photography
Christine Edwards photography
Stephen Bobb- Fidojournalism

If I tagged you above, the rules are that you put a post on your blog answering the last (travel) question, then tag 5 other people to do the same by leaving a comment on their blog with a link back to yours.

Now, if you are reading this and I didn’t tag you, let me know where YOU would like to go!

Just leave it as a comment at the end of the post (just click on where it says ’3 [or whatever number] comments’, all the way at the very bottom of this post under labels, and leave your answer. Be sure to say where you are presently so we have a basis for comparison.

Cmon, everyone join in! I really want to know where everyone would go and why. You can even post anonymously if you don’t have a blog account!

I will then post everyone’s answers as a new post after Christmas.

Yay!!

Have fun!

I’ve been tagged!

Ok Linda, this one’s for you! And I promise to reply to your email this week! ;-)

I have been tagged by Linda O’Neill, the illustrious pet portrait painter, owner of Abby Creek Studios, to name 8 random facts about myself.

The Rules: Each person posts the rules before their list, and then they list eight things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people; then visits those people’s sites and comments, letting them know that they have been tagged, and for them to come read your post so they will know what to do

8 random facts about me:

1. If I wasn’t a pet photographer and artist I would be an interior designer. Not a decorator as in one who selects chintz fabric, but an interior designer who creates space plans and determines the design of the room, including finishings. When I feel like slacking on work you can find me browsing many home design stores online. My favorites are westelm.com, sprout home, z gallerie, wrapables, velocity art and design, oh my gosh the list goes on! My favorite wall paint is the Aura line by Benjamin Moore- fabulous!

2. I have been snowboarding for 14 years and can race by you so fast it’ll make your head spin (and you’ll probably swear at me). I have received not one but two concussions from falling while riding. Next season a helmet is in order.

3. I once spent a summer in France and fell in love with a wonderful frenchman named Jean Phillippe. I would have married him had I not been required to leave the country due to a lack of a visa. It was heartbreaking! We are still in touch now 10 years later.

4. My favorite drink is Lindeman’s raspberry (framboise) lambic. It is unparalleled in flavor by anything else. If you haven’t tried it you totally need to!

5. My life’s dream is to travel the world, starting with a US roadtrip in a new Airstream International 25 RV with my dog Fergie of course.
6. I was punched in the stomach by the school bully on my first day of 2nd grade at a new school. I still highly dislike that town.

7. My idea of the most relaxing evening is laying on the couch with my favorite candy in hand and reading a girly magazine. Heaven.
8. I was born on March 13th, 1972, a pisces. According to astrologists that explains the artist in me. Although I take that kind of thing with a sizeable grain of salt, I like to think I am one of those fish that is swimming upstream. :-)

Now I get to tag my friends below. Go check ‘em out!
