Olive & Daisy

Olive and Daisy were so fun to work with. Olive wasn’t so sure about the camera, but Daisy was hamming it up for everyone. We even got some great shots of the whole family.

This next shot cracks me up. Look at the look on Daisy’s face. LOL.

Thank you Tiffany for bringing your girls for us to photograph in Atlanta. I had a great time and I hope they did too!

my Ode to Green

Every once in awhile a color permeates my subconscious and conscious mind so intensely that it’s darn near all I think about.

Since my first foray onto the Viceroy Santa Monica hotel website several months ago I have been enamored with the color kelly green. Never before have I cared so much for green, but when I saw the Kelly Wearstler-designed green, black and white color combinations at the hotel in person, it created a new appreciation in me. Since then this new like has turned into something else. Not quite a passion as it’s more sensual than that. All I can say is when I see the color now I swoon. Some days I feel like I can taste it, touch it and feel it.

Here are some recent shots that are a tribute to my new love. Taken in Santa Monica, Seattle and Whidbey Island.

The amazing kelly green subway tile bathroom off the lobby. (swoon) (pardon the crappy quality and blur, this was taken with shaky hands, a slow shutter speed and a little point and shoot)

My girl in her favorite spot in her favorite park. When she emerges she smells like ivy. (swoon)

Every time we go to her park she hides behind this little bush. The branches rest across her face, and she peeks out at me, occasionally tucking herself back deeper into the ivy. And every time I say “I can still see you”. awwwww. :-)

Couldn’t decide which shot I liked more, and this one has a stronger green, so I had to include it too, lol.

Hope you enjoyed my tribute to my new obsession! I will do more of these posts, and know just what my next color will be, and even the images to go along with it.

Cheers! :-)

Willow- RIP

Never before have I witnessed as close a relationship between an animal and a human than Willow and his mom. It was a connection so profound that it was hard for me to even photograph. At the ripe old age of 19, Willow’s time had come, and 7 days following our shoot he was gone.

I feel deeply honored that I was able to participate in and honor such an amazing bond. Willow this post is my tribute to you little buddy. May you dream of fish and butterflies for all time and may your heart be alight with the love for you that continues on now and forever.

an update on Rocksy

I swear I have the best clients in the whole wide world. I don’t just *work* for my clients, I *befriend* them. And if it’s true that you get back what you put out there in the universe I must be doing something right, because my clients are just the sweetest, most thoughtful people ever. Case in point is this recent email from Rocksy’s mom:

“Hi Guys, Remember me and Rocksy, she’s just had her 13th birthday and doing great. I was just puttering around on your website and thought I’d give you a “hello”. Rocksy now has a new housemate, Cleo, a weimeraner/choc lab and as I’m sure you can imagine a bundle of energy, Rocksy just watches her and sighs, probably thinking “that darn kid” but Rocksy lost quite a bit of weight, I took her to the vet and it turns out that it’s just because we’ve been walking so much further because of the pup! It’s a good thing because it’s really helped her arthritis and she’s feeling fabulous, grey as ever, more so probably, spoiled rotten but still such a polite and wonderful dog, loves sleeping on her bed in the sunshine, dreaming of her younger days chasing rabbits. love Zoe”

rocksyprint1 Yay for Rocksy!! :-)

Thank you Rocksy’s mom for sending us this email. It totally made my day.

I am going to do my best to get the ‘on competition’ post up tomorrow. I’ve had a crazy stressful last 7 days or so, so we’ll see if my brain still works by tomorrow.

Hope y’all are having a great week wherever you are.
