Kyah- sneak peek part 2

You guys all know Dozer by now. Also known as Dozer the Wonderdog, Superdozer, Darling Dozer and Daring Dozer. His mom also calls him “doh-jez”, which is pretty darn cute.

So Kyah is Dozer’s new German Shepherd baby sister. She is 12 weeks old, has huge feet, a super sweet temperament and the kind of cuteness that ought to be illegal. The kind of cuteness that could make people crash their cars during double-takes, bring grown men to tears, incite fits of puppy adoption insanity, make dog photographers take hundreds of shots, cause 39 images to appear on blog posts, and just generally cause people to go insane. We decided to mix things up a bit by heading over to Marymoor Park in Redmond WA. I was there not only for Kyah’s first swim, but her first kiss as well, awww.

Enjoy and happy weekend!

Not so sure about this water thing…

Big brother looks concerned. He must be really starting to like the little one.

Kyah’s first swim!

noooo, daddy nooo…

but then she kept going back down to the water on her own.

and this is when she slipped and started to go in…

and this is when daddy rescued her. :-)

Kyah is like Dozer’s shadow- she follows him everywhere, even if she can’t quite keep up yet.

Isn’t Marymoor Park pretty? If I recall accurately, it was voted best dog park in America by Bark Magazine. It’s just a 30-minute drive from Seattle in no traffic. But add traffic on (which is oh, all the time except maybe between 11AM AND 2PM weekdays), and it doubles to 60-90 minutes. Still worth the drive on days when one has a chunk of time to spare for the pooch and can avoid rush hour.

Kyah is shy and sensitive, so you will find her hiding behind mom often. A true momma’s girl.

mmm, rolling in wild animal poop. whatever it was it was green. yumm…

It was funny- we were way out in the tall green grass- well off the beaten path- barely visible to parkgoers, yet the doggies kept finding us over there. Every half minute or so a different dog would pop up in the grass next to us. I just kept snapping as they appeared in front of me. Angie and I would go: “oh look at YOU- you’re cute!!”. There were A LOT of happy dogs there that day.

a personal fave of both of them. how cute are they?

Ok, get ready for it…. KYAH’S FIRST KISS!! now that is one happy bulldog.

I think Kyah made his day, hee hee…

Dozer found these gorgeous sleek black dogs to play with.

The wild beasts run free in the Marymoor Savannah….

even though it’s blurry I love this shot of the two of them.

By the way, Kyah is adopted. Any breed, even purebreds, can be rescued instead of bought. For proof see the Seattle Purebred Rescue Society. Rescued purebred dogs may take a little bit longer to find, but the feeling of saving a truly needy animal is more than worth the wait.

puppy teeth!!

more friends we met that day at Marymoor.

one of Kyah’s favorite toys, and a prelude to the next shot…

Dozer has not yet made it past the “mine” stage. He is getting better but apparently he still steals all of Kyah’s toys away from her, as this shot is a great example of. Awwww…

I couldn’t resist. I had to take just one shot of him jumping! What’s a superhero to do? :-)

Hope you enjoyed all of these photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Dozer ‘Flutter’ and ‘Whimsy’ decopaws

I forgot to post this art piece I did recently of Darling Dozer. I just received it back from my printer and am getting ready to stretch it and get it ready to mail.

It’s called ‘Dozer Flutter’.

Also, since you my dear blog audience might find this interesting, here is my favorite proof I designed for them, called ‘Dozer Whimsy’. Usually my proof names are pretty boring, like “Bailey blue sky grass” or “Spot brown”, so I am trying to get better at coming up with more creative names.

And lastly, a photograph that Dozer’s mom sent me this week of him playing tennis (ok, actually they were playing tennis, he was watching). So cute! Love Dozer. :-)

If I don’t have time to write again tomorrow have a really terrific Thanksgiving!

more Dozer

I finally carved out a little chunk of time today to post some more shots of darling Dozer. I have been super busy this week with both client work and a special film project I am part of, which I will post more about later today.

For now I need to get some prints off to clients, and reply to the emails overflowing my inbox!

Hope you enjoy Dozer. His shoot was last Saturday at Gasworks Park, where we had a fabulous time. My favorite part was when he realized I wasn’t just there to shoot him, but that I actually wanted to play with him as well! And playing while shooting is the very best kind of dog photography, IMO.

P.S. Normally I take the time to clone out leashes from my blog images but today my client work takes priority!

Dozer was super active, as most 5 month old puppies are. He was all over the place, and reminded me so much of Fergie at 6 months old it was uncanny. I loved his unbridled spirit.

Shortly after we arrived he decided it was grass munching time. His mom told me he had had an upset stomach, so I decided to help him by hand-feeding him (hey- what’s a pet photographer for, lol).

Five minutes later and he wasn’t feeling so hot (love the bitter beer face)

ooooohhhhhh….

five minutes after this shot he barfed up his grass. but 10 seconds after THAT he felt great and promptly ran down the hill to play with another puppy.

This is possibly one of the oddest angles I have ever gotten on a dog shot. That’s me there on the right, jeans and black sneaks. That’s Lake Union water you see at the bottom of the frame. I love the shot for how Dozer is looking at me. Man he’s cute….

One of my main goals in shooting Dozer was to capture those bits of him that make him who he is as an individual- his ‘unbridled spirit’ as I referred to above, and also his ears. His mom had told me ahead of time about Dozer’s ears, and how they both seem to do their own thing, and she really wanted that captured in our shoot because it really speaks to his personality. I was happy to oblige.

Speaking of his unbridled spirit. I absolutely love playing with dogs while I shoot them, and I hope it shows. :-)

go ahead and jump on me- I love you too…

comin back down…

owww, puppy teeth

Dozer fiercely guarded the shore from any suspicious kayakers…

one tossed an apple core ashore to appease the savage beast. Dozer wasn’t taking the bait

one of my favorites of him- watching the kites fly over the park. How cute is he? :-)

and lastly, one from the outtakes. I didn’t put these shots in my client’s gallery, for a variety of reasons. But I love the shots so much because this was the first point in the shoot that Dozer trusted me and got close to me. I love how he is standing right next to me in the last shot looking out at the water. It fills me with joy.

hope you enjoyed darling Dozer!

Dozer & Sampson sneak peek

These are two different boys- both shot last Saturday at two different locations- Dozer at Gasworks Park, Sampson at Parson’s Gardens.

More to come on them later. I am creating their galleries today.

This is a sneak peek of these super cute and super fun boys. Enjoy and happy Tuesday! :-)
