We are dog lovers (2 shelties and 1 Doberman). I lost my first two shelties within a year and half of each other, and the first one, Dylan, was my buddy for 14 years. I would have loved to had gotten pictures of him done professionally. I am an up and coming photographer myself, and still am not sure what my "niche" will be when I feel ready to do shoots. Your site definitly has me thinking about pet photography. When you have the time, I would love to hear what got you into pet photography, and would love any advice you could throw my way! Like you, it reinforced how essential these photographs are. I took as many up close detail shots as I could before we brought her in--her nose, her paws, her ears. I know I will treasure those photos more and more as time goes on. Our hearts are broken, but being able to go back and see the texture of her fur and the color of her eyes means so much to us. We just had to say goodbye to our sweet lab Sara, our best friend and companion. Like you, it reinforced how essential these photographs are.
