Jill don't do it! IS is essential for telephoto in anything except bright sunlight. I'd much rather have the f4 IS than the f2.8 non-IS personally, if weight or cost is an issue. You'll get loads more sharp photos that way round, really. When are Canon going to put IS on their Prime lenses?!

I think you went with the 2.8 as well....now the question is, did you go with the "IS" version or non "IS". I am contemplating the non "IS" since it is lighter...let me know!

I think you got the f2.8 because you love the shallow DOF too much not to...whichever it was, tell us what you think about it.
Will you be adding a 5D Mk II soon? The ISO 1600 and 3200 samples just blow my 20D-using mind...nice shots as ever BTW - are some of them slightly over-sharpened though or is it my eyes? My 70-200 requires less sharpening than my other lenses.

Great work, as usual, Jamie. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time away. These are just beautiful and I know these dog's humans will be thrilled!

Heaven is beautiful! She has a lovely name, too. I love the shots with the old red barn, they are my faves. And whatever lens you got, it did an amazing job and it is sharp and perfect. And I want it! ;)
