Graffiti dogs project

These are the first in an ongoing personal project aptly titled the Graffiti Dogs Project. This is the fusion of three of my favorite things: dogs, graffiti and photography. Over the next few years, I will be conducting a variety of shoots around the city of Seattle in front of some of the best graffiti walls on the West Coast, with only the raddest looking canine models. If you would like to volunteer your obedient pooch to be a volunteer for one of the shoots, please drop us a line at info@cowbelly.com. I look forward to the culmination of my images in one super awesome product. Although this is mainly just for fun, I have a end goal for a product I think y’all will love.

BTW: my new favorite photo I have ever taken (yes, I said ever) is below. Can you guess which one it is?

That’s Fergie’s tail on the left. “Furr-gee-ee!”

I promise you this shot wasn’t staged (nor cropped). I was just capturing what I was seeing.

Fergie & Jada.

Words cannot express how much I love dogs and graffiti. The combination of both here has me seriously swooning.

Charlie, Seymour. (AKA Chaos and Trouble)

For my pet photographer friends, we were using a reflector under Charlie and Seymour to get some light underneath them.

Jada does cross-eyed so well.

(ok, I can’t contain myself, I will give you a hint on my favorite shot ever taken- I always save the best for last). Can you say WALL-SIZED canvas? WHOOPEE!! I LOVE YOU FERGIE!! πŸ™‚

  1. I think your fave is the one of Jada that’s vertical that she looks crosseyed. It seriously made me smile!!!! Love it!!! I’d LOVE my dog to be part of your project. Many people have agreed she is THE cutest dog on the planet. Too bad you aren’t in so cal! πŸ™

  2. i tried adding comments yesterday… wouldn’t let me?!?!?! but OMG, these are amazing, and miss fergie? your colors look absolutly breathtaking against that backdrop. but i am kinda partial to the snorting dorks in the prior pictures πŸ˜‰ once again jamie, you have outdone yourself. these are fabulous!

  3. I love the graffiti dog shots. For a number of people sessions I’ve done, I’ve sought out graffiti because I think it looks fabulous. I’ve never photographed a dog in front of it, but I think it’s high time I did. Love the results.

  4. I thought “ah-ha!” when I got to the last one, moments before reading that it was the one! Look, a heart above her..your heart dog! I would love to see some of my boy enlarged really big. Man, some of the expressions on the other dogs are hilarious. Those eyes on Jada crack me up! And a puff-cheek pug! ha ha! These are really, really cool Jamie πŸ™‚

  5. Thanks everybody! I will be doing more of these so you will see more on this blog in the future. I have no idea what I’ll do with them, but that’s the fun of personal projects. It’s important to shoot just for oneself from time to time. πŸ™‚

  6. I love the colors of the graffiti! Great idea Jamie! And you are right about the last image making an awesome enlarged canvas!

  7. I was going to say the first one of Fergie (in front of the wall) until I got to the last one. Super cool color – it’s a color explosion!

  8. Great work and great post and thanks for the inspiration credit.

Haha, now we are sort of even for mutilating eachother’s last name:)

Last year I posted a couple of fun shots over at Flickr of my Big Tommy in front of graffiti, but I never got this much powerful color from my lens. My favorite here is the one with the fawn pug cropped at the left side of frame.
