SOS!!

“Help! Calling all national pet photography aide services! One professional pet photographer in Seattle seeking immediate assistance! Mounting emails and voicemails causing quick burial in work! Send help asap!”

Ok, in all seriousness, I had to post this to ask everyone who has called me or emailed me recently to please be patient with me until I can back to you, even if you contacted me like forever ago.

My assistant Christina is still off this month (finishes her yoga school on Friday, yay! But then she needs to move house, sigh….), and although I thought I could handle everything on my own I was SO wrong! Being sick all last week only made matters worse, so I am now VERY behind in getting back to folks. As of last count I have 53 emails to reply to and at least 8 voicemails. (sigh, buries head in sand…)

Please know that if you have emailed or called me I have received your message and will get back to you as soon as I possibly can- my goal is to be caught up within the next two days! I am going through the list in order of the date of contact, and/or if there is an immediate deadline as in for a gift.

Also, if you are going to or already have contacted me about scheduling a shoot this summer have no fear, I still have many openings left-including weekends- I haven’t even had a chance to start booking people! BUT, having said that, don’t wait too long, now that the weather is getting nice in Seattle I am getting flooded with requests so I expect to book up quickly once I start scheduling folks. At least for weekend dates which are always popular. I expect to be in town for every weekend through the middle of September, at which point I think I’m going to need a vacation, ha.

If you are a client who I worked with in April and have contacted me about booking your studio shoot, I have some updates on that and will get back to you this week!

If you have contacted me about workshops, as far as I have had time to look, I’m not full yet for the September workshop but may very well be with all of the folks who have contacted me up until this afternoon. I will be contacting the ‘on the radar’ folks today, as well as the new folks who contacted me.

If you have contacted me about the October workshop, I still have at least 10 spaces left. I have yet to set the date but will this week!

Whew!

Christina is coming in for about 2 hours tonight to help out, so hopefully between she and I we can make some good progress.

Thank you for being so patient!! I promise that next time my assistant takes time off I will have backup, lol!

Hope everyone is having a great week. :-)

amazing film by Dog Art Today

The best way to start your week has to be, without a doubt, to view this stunning little film on dogs in art through 5,000 years of history; conceived,  created, and edited by Moira McLaughlin; inspired by Philip Scott Johnson’s Women in Art film.

Dogs in Art film

Also, to view all of the art images in the film see this post on Moira’s blog, Dog Art Today.

Happy Monday!

Happy take your dog to work day! :-)

I hope that everyone who was able to bring their pooch to their offices with them today had a GREAT time and were able to convince their bosses that canines in the workplace are such a benefit that it’s the kind of thing that should happen regularly. Hint, hint.

Next year I hope to get involved somehow and I have some really cool ideas on how to do just that. I wanted to do it this week but alas my body wasn’t too game to get on board.

Thanks dearly to those of you who have checked in with me this week! I am feeling quite a bit better now and although still weak and zombie-like (and uncharacteristically cranky), I am starting to feel human again, and I think once I have a long shower and one more good night’s sleep I will be back to my old self.

I am deeply grateful to both of my parents this week who set aside their lives to come and take care of me and the Fergs. I really don’t know what I would have done without them and need to come up with something really special to do for them/give them to say thank you. I am so lucky to have them both in my life.

I have so many new posts that I want to publish that I don’t even know where to start. Included on the list are the behind-the-scenes look at the CityDog Magazine Summer cover shoot and the interview with Charlie and Seymour, the photos from South Lake Union, the second sneak-peek post of June and Shelby’s images including the link to the beautiful customizable sterling silver dog tags, a super exciting announcement about the Cowbelly 5-year Anniversary Party next month, photos of Ziggy and Tina’s photobook that came in the mail, a couple of other cool pieces of news and an update on the September workshop.

But first I need to attempt to catch up with the mounting pile of emails and phone calls I haven’t replied to this week, finish a couple of art projects I have been working on, get some clients proofed, order some prints and finish my laundry. :-P I promise to post more fun stuff (and lots of photos) very soon!

Happy Friday all! OH, and happy first day of summer (finally)!!

June Pug and Shelby Shepherd ’sneak peek’

I have been in bed all day with salmonella food poisoning, and just barely had enough energy to pick up my laptop, log into my account and click ‘publish’ on this draft that I saved yesterday. (I couldn’t wait to post it). I haven’t felt this bad in years.

Thank god I had more energy on Saturday: I did this shoot for June, a 12-week old pug puppy, and Shelby, her 15 year old sister. Both darling girls and super sweet. I wanted to stay there with them all day.

First, I have to show you just how tiny June is. “Lookout for the roller skater June!!”

I love Shelby! How adorable is she??

June ‘walks’ Shelby on her leash. Pure comedy there at Greenlake that day. Had people stopping in their tracks on the path.

Junepug has rabbit ears!!

First time in water. I died laughing.

I was putting treats on the lion’s paw, then swapped them out for a chestnut. June was perplexed.

in case you missed it the first time around….

June has the prettiest little dog tags- a sterling silver bone and handmade, custom engraved heart. I’ll have to find out the link to the gal who makes these and post it here.

This next pair are two of my faves from the shoot.

A sleepy pug puppy is a happy pug puppy.

I have so many favorites of them this will be a 2-part post.

If you will excuse me, I think I will go die now.

Oh wait, before I forget. Do you know how you can help me get over my food poisoning faster? Send this post to everyone you know and help me start a viral blog post! This pretty new blog isn’t getting much traffic yet and I’d love to see some new folks stop by.

Thanks so much!

Ok, now I will go die…

darn those terms

This afternoon I received a great photography email newsletter and in the newsletter they advertise a really cool business that allows users to upload content and create online magazines and even print and distrubute them if they like. The users can create an entire magazine themselves, or form a group with their friends and colleagues and create a magazine together. The online mags look really cool and seem like they’d be a super fun thing to do.

BUT.

Because of the Terms, I won’t be using them, as is often the case with this type of thing (and also why I very rarely enter contests):

“(reworded terms) by submitting your stuff to the website, you grant (name removed) a worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, copy, display, perform, modify, transmit, make derivative works of, and distribute the stuff you submitted, including without limitation, for redistributing part or all of your stuff (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels.”

Hmmm, I think I’ll pass.

This is just a reminder that for any service (whether it be online or in person), if you are presented with a Terms of Agreement (otherwise known as a contract), please ALWAYS read the terms before agreeing to anything.

On a related note, last week I received a different newsletter, also from the same company, which included a link to possibly the coolest (and best looking) news blog in the world. It’s the Boston Globe’s news blog and the format is very similar to my little blog’s (ProPhoto) theme, with humongous images on each post. It’s truly the most incredible photography. The kind of photos that stay with you for a long time. I now have it bookmarked in my bookmarks bar (a very exclusive place to be btw).

Go check it out here: Boston.com’s The Big Picture.
